A Weekend Getaway? How about a village like this!

A weekend getaway that relaxes you to the core. Brings back the zeal in you.

Rate this:

Recently we went to a village named Magod in Karnataka which happens to be my father’s native place. It had been long since we visited Magod, so this year we decided to take this trip.

It was so blissful I can’t describe it in words. We spend thousands of dollars planning for a lavish holiday tour, but we often miss such places which indeed gives your soul a true happiness.

This place is located near Honavar or Honnavar, a port town in North Kannada district of Karnataka, India, surrounded by Sharwati river.

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.

The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”   John Muir’s Quote on National Parks

We left for this place from Goa (India) at around 9am, via NH66 and reached Honawar at 1pm, the road is pretty narrow to go to the village so we reached there by approximately 4.30 pm.

Here are few pics to blow your mind. I read a quote few days back which says “There is no Wifi in the forest but I promise you will have a better connection.”

Boat ride. Isn’t it blissful?

Our betel nut plantation.

My sister teaching her son how to water the crops

Coconut trees

In the forest

View from the hanging bridge

My granny’s abandoned house.

A cow in its shed

Copper spoons

Walkways in villages.

Boat ride. Pure bliss

Food here mostly comprises of seafood. We get fresh fishes. The water that is used for cooking, is drawn from the wells, which adds a different kind of taste to the food. It’s like a detoxification therapy for the whole body internally as well as externally.

Hope you liked my pictures.

Let me know in the comments below if you have ever visited any such village. If you haven’t done it yet, do plan it in near future. It really refreshes your soul. We all need to take a break from technology and from cities having all kinds of wireless radiations. Give it a try. Take your family and friends along.

Keep the places you visit clean, and do not litter. We all know the good and bad nature give us back. It just returns, whatever we give it.

Don’t forget to like and follow us for more such updates.
